Everyone has one commonality—a personal history that is unique only to the person. Some people had caretakers that were nurturing and loving. Others might not have been as fortunate and lived in fear and anxiety growing up. I was in the latter group. Trauma experienced at a young age held me back for years from attaining my potential both in my personal life and in my career. Thanks to an innate drive to survive and the boundless power of the human spirit, I not only endured but I prevailed over psychological and emotional challenges and attained the successes I’d only dreamed about for most of my adult life.

Now it’s time to give back. As a published author and speaker, I pass on the lessons I learned in my long and arduous journey from trauma to triumph. My love of language both written and spoken, coupled with my identity as an androgynous gay woman manifested an aspiration to delve into academic studies that married my innate passions. I hold a Ph.D. in comparative literature, within the context of women’s meditations regarding gender identity, sexuality, and madness.
